Since its inception in 2016 by the Paulus Hook Music Foundation, the New York Big Apple Music Festival has become a significant music event in the New York area. Over the years, it has garnered broad support from various sectors of New York society, mirroring the diversity and vibrancy symbolized by the city’s moniker – “The Big Apple.” This support includes the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York; world-renowned music institutions such as The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Central Conservatory of Music, and China Conservatory of Music; collaborative performances with the United Nations Choral Society, representing global peace and cooperation; and esteemed artistic organizations like the Yo-Yo Ma Family Ensemble and the New York Youth Symphony. Through its meticulously curated summer camp and performance programs, the festival brings together top professors from The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, providing professional instruction and college application guidance to young musicians with dreams and aspirations. Furthermore, its diverse platforms, including the New York International Symphony Orchestra and Soloist Project, the Youth Orchestra Training Program, and the Modern Music Competition, not only enhance the artistic skills of young musicians but also carry the important mission of promoting Chinese music and Chinese musicians on the world stage. In 2019, the official cooperation and live broadcast of the New York International Modern Music Competition with NetEase Cloud Music further transmitted the event’s grand occasion to a global audience. With its open and inclusive approach, the New York Big Apple Music Festival continues to inject new vitality into the diverse development of world music culture.

About the Concert Hall

The Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage is the heart of Carnegie Hall, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and historical significance. Seating approximately 2,804, it has hosted countless legendary performances, featuring top artists from classical, jazz, and popular music. Its name honors violinist Isaac Stern, who saved the hall from demolition. The auditorium’s curved design ensures superb acoustics, making it a preferred recording venue. It has witnessed performances by masters like Tchaikovsky, marking musical and cultural history. Despite its size, the five-tiered seating creates an intimate atmosphere. Since Stern’s 1960s rescue, the hall has been continually renovated to preserve its heritage. Beyond classical music, it hosts diverse modern performances. The Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage is not just a venue, but a living testament to music and a vital part of New York’s cultural legacy.
